Flaxseed is one of the world’s oldest crops. There are two types, brown and golden, both of which are equally nutritious. The seeds are rich in nutrients including protein, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids, as well as several important vitamins and minerals. They lowers cholesterol levels, help protect against cancer and are rich in fiber which aids digestion.

It is recommended to consume ground seeds instead of whole because the ground flaxseed is much easier to digest than whole flaxseed. This is partly because your intestines are unable to break down the tough outer shell of whole seeds.
